Goodbye Mrs. Summer, Hello Fall!

Oh, my Goodness, it is officially the first day of fall and it is another pretty warm day! I am a summer lover, but these last two years have been tough. I want to think it is hotter, but every year the weatherman reminds us that in 1980, we had thirty, 100-degree days here in West Tennessee. I graduated high school that year! Honestly, I just don’t remember it being that hot. It must be my age….. I don’t mind sweating, if it was my body sweating, but it is ROLLING off my neck first, then my head, then my body. It is totally disgusting. Can anyone relate? I keep saying that I need some cute Mumu dresses. You know those flowy housedresses that we use to see old lady’s wear. Well, I am there! Now, I know why they wore them, they allow air to circulate, and you could stand over a fan!

Anyhow, the purpose of the post is Happy Fall Y’all and decorating. This past week, I pulled all the fall decorations out. I honestly didn’t even start fall decorating until a few years ago. And now, I am totally obsessed. It all started the year Brianna got married and we used a lot of pumpkins in the wedding and well, we had to do something with them. Thus, fall porch decorating begin.

Top Left picture- We went to Donnell farms (not related to us) on Hwy 70 toward Huntingdon, TN for the final pumpkin haul for the wedding! I had also grown some pumpkins.

The Bottom Left was used as pictured in the wedding and it was kept that way and placed on our front porch.

Above were pumpkins used at the wedding. I love those stackable pumpkins and may have to purchase some for this year.

I am so happy to say, “Goodbye Mrs. Summer!” We are looking forward to cooler weather, sitting on the porch with a coffee, trail riding with a campfire at night and maybe some s’mores……. This week the summer porch decor was put away and Fall porch was decorated. I do believe it is becoming my favorite time of year. I don’t have a lot of stuff to have to store away. I have just used some floral picks, ribbon, pillow covers and a door mat.

I am definitely not an expert decorator! I just grab picks and start sticking them around until, I am happy! I love the little pop of blue. It just adds some variety to all that orange. Right now, is a good time to visit Hobby Lobby, if you have one near you. They have a great selection of all Fall things or use my link to visit Amazon and have it delivered to your door.

I love this caulk board. It is hiding a meter box. We were not the original owners of this property and when it was built, they placed the meter right beside the front door. For years it haunted me, until I had the idea to make a decorative box to disguise it. That is automatic fly spray sitting on top of it to try to keep flies ran away from the front door. If I was a professional, that would have been taken down for the picture, but you get real life here. The Happy Fall sign was purchased at a local festival. Yes, I could have made it, but sometimes it is nice just to go on and get it!

I left the Hello sign on the door and just added a few floral picks to make it look fall and put down a fall doormat. Looking at the pictures side by side, the fall decorations make the summer ones look sparce. I may have to do something to up the summer porch next year.

Last but not least, the glider swing had its pillow covers changed out! I am obsessed with these pillow covers. I use the same old five-dollar pillows and change the look from season to season. The covers are well made, affordable, and they take up very little storage, unlike a pillow! Yes, I do have some actual fall pillows, and it is cumbersome trying to stuff in bags and find a place to put them.

I am an Amazon Affiliate and can make a commission on a qualified sale, at NO extra charge to you. Here is the link to the covers that I use. If that is something you are interested in, Please order through the link. I will make little something to keep bringing content to you.

I will enjoy the Fall decorations through Thanksgiving, then will be changing out to Christmas decorations. I have lots of Christmas pillow covers that I use on the porch and on pillows in the house.

The wood pumpkin sitting on the porch got a touch up paint yesterday. It had really faded out. We made that out of scraps. I will write a post on it.

On the coffee table are a few pumpkins that I grew this year.

As always, thank you for dropping by. I hope that you may have found some inspiration. Please let me know that you were here, or feel free to ask any questions. I am more than happy to help, if I can.

Happy Fall Y’all! Get out and Enjoy Life! Tomorrow is never promised, as we have been all too aware of these past few years.

PS: If you have a moment, will you follow me on Melinda Donnell’s Amazon Page, where I give honest reviews of products that we have purchased. As an amazon affiliate, I will earn a small commission on a qualified sale, at no extra charge to you.
