Who wants to make some cute pumpkins? My oldest started making these a couple of years ago. I used the same concept but made on a floral piece and another one a platter. They are so freaking cute!
These pumpkins are just hollow foam and can be found at the Dollar Tree store, or order in bulk online. Cut a hole in the top and the bottom of the pumpkins. She used fat yarn; I used Crafter’s Mesh. Loop a piece through the middle and tie it off. Then continue taking it through the center and around the outside until you have the pumpkin covered. She found some branches that she cut to appropriate length and glued it to the top. So simple and cute! This is something that kids could even do.
I used Halloween mesh and wrapped it through the pumpkins. On the floral, I made the top hole a little bigger, then after wrapping it, I lodged a piece of foam down in the center to stick flower stems.
After wrapping this, I glued a couple of fall stems on the top and glued a Dollar Tree plate. Viola!
So, if you are looking for something super easy to make and easy on the budget, these turn out to be so cute.
Now this one is made out scrap lumber. I used 1 x 6 scraps; you could use any size, but I don’t’ think that I would go with anything bigger than the 1 inch. You will need 1 – 12″, 2 – 11″, 2 – 10′, 2 – 9″, 2 – 8″ boards. We started with the smallest, the 8″ board, this will be the top board. Center the 9-inch board over it and put in 2 screws from the bottom of the larger board, then continue until you get to the final 8′ board. I made a stem out of a board; you could use a branch.
We made this years ago and it had gotten really faded! You see the stain drips, obviously we used this wood to prop something up that we were staining. Yesterday, I gave her a touch paint job.
Back on the front porch and I actually like the new paint job better than the first one it got.
