The Barnominium-update

I was happy with the original renovation for a long time but had always hated the original metal color. The addition that we had added on to left side of building was really starting to look different from the rest of the building. So, in 2021 we took the plunge and decided to paint and replace all the trim. My brother came down to do the painting and said he would paint the trim as well. We opted to change it all out as it had dents and scratches. The horses had done a number on their stall doors, so all of those had to be recovered. At this point the building is over 20 years old. We bought it in 2002 and it had been here for a while.

Before part 2

The difference in paint colors can really be seen here!

I stayed on the ground when possible.

I am not a fan of heights! I was a little scared. But we got it replaced with a new black one that was wider.

Bob stripped the doors down to the wood frames. Amazingly they were still in awesome condition and didn’t require any repair. Then he covered the frames with new metal the same color of the paint. He added new black trim. All women need a Bob!

Painted the white trim black.

We added craftsman trim to the front door and painted it teal. Goodbye Red! Someone was not thinking having a meter box beside the front door! I figured how to disguise it!

We really went about this backwards. We did the doors first, then painted the building. I believe we were still trying to decide on painting the whole building.

The cherry picker that we rented was a lifesaver and I got some awesome pictures and video. I had to ride in it to help put the trim back on the building! It was a little scary. That thing doesn’t move really smooth, and we were trying to ease up close to the wall. Could have been operator error, both of them. Not me!

The ceiling on the porch is just plywood. I have never been a fan of it. I painted it and the white trim around the porch to look like wood. Look for a post on how!

That is a wrap on the paint job! We painted the entire building, except the roof and replaced all trim. I painted the garage doors and Bob added trim to make them craftsman. We painted the white window frames black and added wood shutters made by Bob. I am so happy with it. I feel like I have a new home!

As always, thanks for dropping by. Feel free to ask a question or leave a comment! Follow along for an article about how we did the doors!
