Barn/shop reno before and after

This shop was at a home that we owned in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was big and ugly! A very basic building style, that had three huge metal doors that swung open. The siding was an ugly faded out color and the roof leaked. The pros were that the structure was solid and had a concrete floor. Prior owners had used it to work on and paint cars.

Bob hired a contractor for this job. It was too large a project for us, and it would have taken too many weekends for us to complete. Plus, we didn’t need to be up on any roof. All the metal was removed down to the studs. A few rotten pieces of wood were replaced, and we reframed the three door openings, down to two garage doors on the front and added an opening for one on the end. The whole building was insulated, and new siding and trim put on the sides and roof. The box, aka shop needed some charm, so we ordered some craftsman garage doors and made cedar shutters for the windows. We also made a planter box with lattice and placed between the two garage doors to carry the look of cedar. I also added some landscaping on the end. Plants make everything look better.

I wish I had more pictures to show. I’ve looked in my computer files, on all phones and in the Cloud, but only before and after were found. We were pleased with how it turned out! It was now a nice insulated workable shop/barn. It went from a big ole ugly box that leaked to a building that blended better with the surroundings and was easy on the eyes. Not Fabulous but a whole lot better. I still hated the design of the building, but we couldn’t change that. I had actually forgotten how ugly it was until writing this. It is raining here, and Bob just walked in the office to see what I was doing. He said, “Boy that was ugly!”
